¨ Ellen Gallimore has organized = this event so that you may enjoy getting to meet– up with other tutor= s and celebrate an evening of success at The Winston- Salem Children’= s Museum July 27th from 6-8pm!

¨ New volunteer Orientation Meet= ing on August 22 from 6-9pm at  the COS office

¨ Literacy Training will be held= on August 29th and 31st from 6-9pm, and continues on September 12th and 14= th

¨ All trainings will be held at = the COS offices. Please encourage your friends and family to join us in giv= ing the gift of literacy to someone by becoming a volunteer!

Tasty Treat: Onigiri
Onigiri are rice balls. They are usually wrapped with a nori seaweed,

are slightly salted, and usually have other foods e= mbedded in their  centers. For= example, an umeboshi (pickled Japanese apricot), katsuobushi (dried bonito= shavings), tuna, or salmon can be found inside.  Rice balls are a popular, snack which can be purchased = at  convenience stores in Japa= n!

New ESL/Family Lit. Coordinator =

Sonsera Kiger has joined the COS family as the ESL/= Family Lit. Coordinator. Her background includes experience in Motheread, = community– based ESL program directing, Hispanic Achievers mentoring,= bi– lingual story– sharing in public school systems, and bi= 211; lingual, LD, and Autism tutoring with experience in both Winston–= ; Salem, and Asheville, NC.
